2 days old

Meet "M", who now has the honor of being the youngest baby I've photographed! I captured some amazing images of this little girl and her mom and dad when they were still in the hospital. She slept through her whole session, and I hope now that she is home, she's doing the same for her mom and dad! Congrats to the "A" family!

11 years old

Meet "L" who is 11 years old. What a wonderfully polite and mature young lady! I love this age...still a kid, but just on the verge of young adulthood. I often hear, "I want to wait until she is x years old before I have her portrait taken." Whether your kids are 11 days or 11 years old, it's important to capture who they are now. In a matter of seconds, days, moments...they change and who they were is just a memory.

Nick
Just working on a few images from a fantastic session I had this weekend! It's not often that I meet a high school senior who loves classic hits from Genesis, Rolling Stones, and Elvis...and did I mention that he is a great student and athlete, too? Nick and his mom were great to work with, and I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

Strength

When I look at these images, the word strength comes to mind. These two girls are so powerful in the water, but they make it look so easy. I love the muscle in the shoulders of the butterflier, and the energy in the hand of the freestyler. Swimming is an amazing sport that takes an amazing amount of energy, strength, and balance. These two girls certainly have it!

High School Senior Models Needed!

I am so excited to be working on a new website that will be just for high school seniors. Now, there isn't anything wrong with the run of the mill yearbook poses, but I would love to offer high school seniors a chance to express themselves a little more than the typical "tilt your head this way" pose. I am looking for male and female models who are entering their junior or senior year of high school. If you know a high school junior or senior who would be interested in receiving a FREE SESSION and THREE SETS OF WALLETS, then give me a buzz!

8 days old
Meet "J" at 8 days old. I am in LOVE with this image. This little guy had the most soulful eyes. It was as if he was studying all the new things around him. Even the way he held his hand under his chin tells me that this little one will be a thinker! And I'm glad to hear that mom and dad are getting a little more rest!7.01.2007

TuTu Cute!

Little Miss "M", who from what I hear is the boss of the family, was so excited to model one of my new pettiskirts. Every little girl should have the chance to twirl and spin in layers of fluffy tulle! Expect to see more of these colorful skirts, both here and on my website. I think they going to be a big hit with all the little princesses I know!

A present for Dad....

Meet K, M, and P who have a very special Dad. Their dad has been deployed to Iraq and every moment that he is overseas, his three beautiful children will be thinking of him. Even though the calendar says that Father's Day is only one day of the year, we shouldn't wait for a certain day to celebrate our family. This family, and the sacrifices that they have made and will make, remind me to cherish every moment I have with my family.

Do you remember?

Do you remember how tiny your newborn baby was? Do you remember those first few weeks of wrinkled skin, delicate fingers, curled toes? It is so important to capture those tiny parts because in the blink of an eye, your tiny little newborn will grow. The first three weeks of your babies life will be filled with so many things that can easily cloud your memory...sleepless nights and diaper changes are just a few! If you are expecting a baby, give me a call and I'll make sure you never forget how tiny your baby was!

Maternity Models Needed!
I recently attended the Rhode Island Professional Photographers' Association annual meeting in Newport. Lori Nordstrom, one of my favorite photographers, has inspired me to try some new things! So, if you or one of your friends are pregnant and are interested in a complimentary maternity session and a "special gift" give me a call, send me an e-mail, or fill out the contact page on my website! I will only be accepting a limited number of these sessions, so contact me soon!

I know the warmer weather is just around the corner, and to celebrate I'm offering a some special collections that will be available only for sessions that are photographed in May and June. These collections offer a big savings on my a la carte pricing. This is the perfect time to schedule a session for Mothers' Day or Fathers' Day gifts! Call the studio, send me an email, or visit the web site and fill out the contact form...I look forward to hearing from you!
And even though you might try to keep the session a secret from mom or dad, it might be fun to bring mom AND dad in like the "C" family did!

Let Him Eat Cake!

So what happens when you put a cake in front of a 1 year old? Lots of fun! Meet "R" who was the sweetest happiest little guy. Turning one is such a HUGE milestone....for mom dad and baby. What better way to celebrate than smushing a cake in your fingers and toes! A big thanks to "R's" mom for letting me turn her cutie-patootie into a big mess of frosting!

A sneek peek!

These two brothers were such fun. The little guy "B" was all smiles! At 9 months old, he was fascinated by the ducklings (which aren't real...too scary to mix live animals and little kids!). His big brother "B" was trying his hardest to act like he was too cool to smile. I wonder if he knows just how much his smile melts his grandma's heart!

Sometimes A Boo-Boo Looks Good!
I showed up to take this little guy's Christmas pictures, and his mom said that he had just tripped and banged his lip on the edge of a table. Usually a bump or bruise will be a good reason to reschedule a session. But, in this case, the trip left the cutest little bump on his lip. If you look closely, it looks like a heart! Well, instead of trying to retouch the heart, mom and I decided we'd leave it alone. It's who he is...all boy and full of lots of love!

Growing Up

I'm beginning to branch out from the familiar territority of babies and young kids. This is D., my first unofficial senior (because she really is a junior). D.'s been our babysitter for many years, and I can't believe how she's grown. I enjoyed her session so much because in the back of my mind I could still picture her as the 11 year old kid helping my kindergartener off the bus.
Well, Miss D., you're one talented kid, and in my eyes you'll always be the "big sister" to my girls!

Perfection
That's the only thing that comes to mind when I see this image. This little 18 month old was perfect from head to toe. The best part was watching her dance to "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". It's amazing what a little music can do! So, my challenge to you, is to crank up the tunes and dance...either alone or with your kids. It's sure to make you smile!11.09.2006
Brother and Sister

Unscripted, unprompted, and unrehearsed...it's moments like this between siblings that make a session a success. Is this really how this brother and sister feel toward each other? Sure it is. Somewhere deep inside each of us is the need to lean on our siblings, our families. As Thanksgiving approaches, I'm reminded how important my family is and how thankful I am to have a shoulder to lean on!

HO HO HO!
So, if all the stores are getting ready for Christmas, I may as well too! This little guy is about to celebrate his First Christmas, and there is nothing like seeing the joys of the holiday through the eyes of little ones.
All my holiday sessions are booked, and I am working on getting all my deliveries ready for Santa's elves! Remember to check in often to get your sneak peek!

Vacuums

The best thing about what I do is getting to meet these little people that have the most amazing personalities. This little guy knew everything, and I mean everything, about vacuums! They just made him smile. So, instead of talking about The Wiggles, we talked about Dysons, Hoovers, and Dirt Devils! I will never be able to vacuum again without a smile on my face, and I have my friend S to thank for that!

A Little Secret....
M&M's make any kid smile! And so it went with this little girl, "M".Me: Hey "M" guess what I have in my pocket?
"M": I don't know.
Me: Well if you look really close into my camera, I might have a suprise for you.
"M": What?
Me: I have some M&M's for you.
...and there it is, the best smile I could ever want, the kind of smile that melts daddy's heart and makes mommy's day...

What Do You See?
It always amazes me that a simple little question, "What do you see?", can lead to so many funny answers. These two little girls were finding all sorts of stuff in the pond...fish, snakes, hot dogs, donuts. Of course, the only thing I could see in the pond was the reflection of two gorgeous, creative, and entertaining girls.

Future Model?

Just wanted to share a few favorites from a recent session. These sisters were such fun to work with! We spent some time getting some "typical" shots that might make it onto a Holiday Card. I then asked them to "model" for me. A little tilt of the head and bend in the knee, and I think we might have a model on our hands!

A Little Moody, A Little Messy

Sometimes kids are a little moody. Sometimes their hair is a little messy. Still, it's who they are...and that's what we need to remember. Sure, kids look great when their shirts are pressed and their hair is brushed. But it's still important to capture them at those unposed, real, and honest moments. During a session I try to capture both the "posed" and the "real" moments. Sometimes when you least expect it, a certain emotion, feeling, mood surfaces. It is these brief glimpses into a child's world that I love to capture.

The Eyes are a Window to our Soul

If there is one thing I try to capture, it is the unique expression a child has. Often it surfaces for only a split second. A little glimpse of the child's soul is revealed. These are the moments, the expressions, the memories, that I hope my images capture. I want my images to stare back at the viewer and grab their heart. I want my images to reveal a little, or maybe a lot. I want my images of your child to leave you breathless.

Tiny Fingers, Tiny Toes
This little guy was such a joy to photograph. He had the biggest smile! After working hard for me, he decided to take a nap. I love this image of his toes with mom's wedding band! It is amazing how tiny a baby's hands, feet, fingers, and toes are. If there are any newborns in your family, I'd love to help preserve their special tiny parts!

Anticipation

I love maternity sessions. There are so many emotions to capture. This mom and dad eagerly anticipate the birth of their third baby in August. Big brother and sister are very excited also. I'm always amazed at the intimate moments captured through the lens of my camera. For me, it is a window into the soul.
Just a reminder--there are only a few days left to get in on my June special--1/2 off session fee if paid by the end of June and scheduled before September 1st!

Horse Sense

This was such a fun session! As a teenager I took riding lessons. The smell of horses is one that brings back such memories. It is a wonderful combination of leather and hay. Of course, the stable smell is one that words cannot describe! This session made me think about how important our pets are. They are always happy to see us, give us unconditional love, and provide needed therapy after a long day. If there is a pet in your family, think about including him or her in your next session! They are, after all, part of the family.

The Beach

It's never too early for the beach! This was my first beach session of the season. It was windy and a little chilly, so we had the beach almost to ourselves. We are so lucky to have so many beach spots in Rhode Island.
To celebrate the start of summer, if you book a session during the month of June, you will receive 50% off your session fee. Your session can occur anytime before September 1st, but you must pay for your session in June. My summer calendar is filling fast, so call soon!

Spontaneous Moments

This is what I love about photography. Sometimes the most beautiful images come from the most spontaneous moments. This is Melina with her two daughters. These two little ones were such a joy! Melina was a great mom to work with, and she's a fabulous cook as well. I captured some images for her website, www.theinspiredtable.com. Make sure you check it out!
